This was very comfortable to do except that my wrists felt like they were just a fraction off the floor.
My head was an inch above the floor and my hands would not touch the floor
I was able to touch most contact points, but my left wrist was slightly off the ground.
Everything was down except my right wrist needed about 30 extra seconds to get there.
My back was flush against the floor. With my wrists 10cm from the floor when I tried to force it my back raised off the floor.
Hi
My back was flush against the floor. With my wrists 10cm from the floor when I tried to force it my back raised off the floor.
Elbows difficult to get to the floor and wrist 6″ – Always fighting being in flexion after years being a mechanic and heavy weight training -71 healthy but need to work on movement.. Love the videos.
Hello Dr Hoffman
I just did the test and discovered that i as long as i kept my ribs lowered down rightly i couldn’t get my wrists to go flat on the floor. Guess i have got some core wellness to achieve.
Had to really strain to keep back on floor while putting wrists and elbows on floor. Very tight left pect muscle.
Hi Dr. Hoffman!
My wrists stay about 1 1/2 inches from the floor and my neck is somewhat arched when my ribs are flat. Both of my shoulders ache with my arms in this position.
Thanks,
Margaret
No problem with this one. Need to do the next one again for the hip knee and lower back pain I have.
My ribs were flat to the floor. Tight across the pecs. Head position ok, chin wanted to travel upwards. The wrists were both about an inch and a half arch from the floor, with the fingers flat.
I really didn’t have a problem, but recently finished a course of physical therapy.
I did ok on this.
No difficulty doing this.
My ribs were flat to floor, my neck was in right position but felt tiny bit tensed. My wrist were flat, but noticed my fingers curling instead of flat to the floor. I do yoga & stretching but not as often as I should.
No space under my ribs, head in the correct position. right hand and fingers to the floor, but left hand about an inch above the floor. This was quite a bit of a strain though. Certainly couldn’t hold the position long.
I could not bring my left wrist to the floor due to past frozen shoulder problem. I could feel tightness in my upper back and neck, but it felt good.
I could do it but my husband who is a mailman and walks all day long could not. He found it extremely difficult to get his wrists down. Couldn’t get the left one down at all. He subluxated his left shoulder some years ago and wonders if that’s why.
Just finished 10 sessions of therapy due to lower back issues, so was comfortable to do except that my wrists were slightly off the floor.
I did well except for upper body (angel pose)…my arms can not touch the floor. My upper back is beyond tight : (
Did ok. Little tight across pecs
All ok, waist (ribs) flat to the as were my wrists, with neck relaxed.
I have a herniated c6-7, I have been working with orthogonal chiropractor for about a year, has been great but have now developed what feels like frozen shoulder. Did your floor angel and cannot get my one elbow down to ground and painful. Trying to figure out if from my scapula frozen, neck or tear in my shoulder? Getting frustrated, please help
Thanks
Sounds like it could be from the shoulder capsule, Donna. Do a search on http://www.activerelease.com to find someone who can break up the restricted tissue and join us inside the Core Wellness Institute to restore your posture for the long haul.
back and ribs flat to floor but not wrists
I did not have any problems with that. It felt very comfortable, my wrists were flat on the floor and my back was form on the floor. Nothing could be pushed under my back
Great, Ren. Sounds like you don’t have a mobility / flexibility issue in the upper quarter. If you have posture issues it would be more of a core stability / motor control problem that needs to be “reprogrammed” in your nervous system.
It was hard to get my wrists flat on the ground. And when I did then my shoulders went up. Also had to really work to get the rib cage area flat on the ground depending on if my wrists were flat on the ground or not. Also left shoulder area feels really tight in front and back. Seems like one thing goes up as another comes down – lol. Good to have an assessment of all of this!
That’s how it feels at first until you start reversing the CPS and find your core, Lisa. You’ll get there!
piece of cake! Done by the book (or video).
No problems with that test.
It was exactly as you described, I could not lay flat. My wrist went down and mid back came up.
Great tests, very good explanation, thank you doctor.
I am dealing with UCS multiplied by scoliosis. I do Schroth exersises and was looking for something else to improve my form. Finding the core concept is very helpful. The weakest link in my body is at the junction of lower back and thorasic region. It feels like a broken hinge. I began you exersise program trying to be mindfull about all scoliosis deviations. After a week I feel different.
I did fairly good on the floor Angel, except my wrists don’t touch the floor.
Everything was fine except my left wrist did not touch the floor. I am having problems with my left shoulder and hip.
I did pretty well, a bit tight through my shoulders but wrist did meet the floor, head flat and back on the floor.
I can do it, but I am tight across my chest and my lower ribs want to lift back up to be more comfortable!
Neck and back were fine, but I could not get my wrists any closer than two inches from the floor.
My head is positioned back. When I push my lower back to the floor there’s a lot of tension from my legs and my wrists don’t touch the floor.
That’s a classic case, Carrie. The training should help.
I can do this with no issues
Hello Heidi, check my response to Susan below.
I went into the position easily but I still think I have upper crossed syndrome!
It’s entirely possible, Susan. A lot of people can do the position on the floor but lose the ability to actually hold the upright posture pattern when standing because of past posture and movement programming / habits / aesthetics / etc.
You just need to re-wire the inborn upright pattern you developed as a baby. It’s in there. The “push away” intention will help and the reverse cps now training course takes you all the way. There’s more info about that at http://www.reversecpsnow.com
I could perform the test to a reasonable extent, only that it was difficult to completely get my hands flat on the ground. Thank you.
Head wanted to kick stand but was able to get it correct but hands would not go to floor, ribs ok
Woe! My hands are ten inches off the floor.
You’re not alone, Sheila. That’s why this I built this program. Too many people are suffering from this and the medical establishment is not talking about it near enough.
I wish I had known of this program before I had back surgery, I believe I could have corrected it.
Glad you’re getting good benefits from the full course, Jim. It’s likely that it could have. We’ve kept many people from surgery with the methods inside CWI.
However…it’s important to keep your focus on the present and not the past…thinking about what could have been only causes stress in your nervous system which draws you into more CPS.
Dr. Steve,
I did not have a problem with this test. My mid-back was on the floor as were my wrists. I am studying Somatics and I was happy to hear you mention Thomas Hanna and the Red Light and Green Light reflexes in your other videos. You and now my new ‘go to’ resource. You mentioned in one of your videos that you did a video on getting down to the floor. I would be very interested in seeing that because my elderly sister has problems getting to the floor to do somatic excercises. Thank you for your generosity in sharing your knowledge.
I did have trouble getting my wrist to the floor, was able to connect my ribs.
I am older (63) now, fit but concerned about my posture. I do have head forward posture.Which I am hoping to correct.
I found your videos on you tube when I was looking for a solution for sciatica pain. Thanks for all your unique videos for posture and health
I could almost do it, but my neck and shoulder hurt. I have three degenerated discs in my neck, cervical radiculitis, shoulder impingement with bony spur (osteoarthritis, and definite forward head issues.
Right wrist does not touch the floor.
I could do it, but it was painful. I didn’t want to stay that way for long.
My physiotherapists never mentioned UCS but after seeing videos and reading symptoms it checks out.
My left scapula often feels like it digs into the floor when I’m lying flat (tight pectoral I suppose), and my left wrist can only go about 6″ above the floor before my ribs start raising off the ground!
Looks like I’ll need to work at it.
I had no problem with my right arm or neck. My left elbow and wrist were just a hair off the ground. There was tension in my front left shoulder and down my clavicle.
Yes, I can do it. A little tight through the chest and slightly uncomfortable but not painful.
