Left wrist abo9ut 10 inches from floor, right wrist about 6 inches from floor . I'm 62 . I'm ready to get IT back
I can touch the backs of both hands to the floor while maintaining contact with the lower ribs, but the wrists don't quite touch. This also revealed some definite tension in the upper back
Can make my wrists and thoracic spine touch the floor, but its a forced not a relaxed position. If lying 'relaxed' both spine and wrists come approx 2-3 cm of the floor. I guess that means my floor angel self test is positive..?
Right wrist about 1 inch off floor with flat hand and spine. Left wrist can be forced flat but not comfortable.
I completed this with correct form, no problems
so far so good
Right wrist is about an inch off the ground, left a little less of a gab. It depends on the angle of the elbow which is hard to judge from the floor. The hands touch. Shoulder/armpit region will go up if I force the wrists down.
Wrists were way off the floor.
Wrists were about 3" off the floor.
I did okay,
But that is a (just) recent result.
before i'm shure i could not get that far
Cannot get arms back far enough to touch floor and back ribs do not touch floor (over 65)
I did well
Hi,
Both wrists about an inch off the floor. Ribs anchored ok with effort.
My left wrist is 5" above the floor and my right wrist 3" above the floor. My back is flat to the floor. Need to correct this…
Left wrist 4 inches from floor and right wrist 5 inches from floor and right shoulder feels pretty stiff and pain.
can I ? …yes (sorta)
with deliberate intent I can contact lower cage to floor, both wrist to foor, all in unison.
relaxed everything thing between L5 and scupula spine is up, wrist up ( say 4 inches) and feels like im reachin for the ceiling with my rib cage
I passed this test but have tightness in my right shoulder area. What can I do that will allow me to pass this test perfectly?
Cal
I did fine on this test. Which concerns me since I was hoping to do poorly since my symptoms of neck, traps and head pain or almost unbearable when I do any kind of upper body exercises.
We both did well with the test
With back flat on floor, I only get my wrists to about 2" off the floor.
When doing this exercise the wrists stay off the floor about 1 inch. Slight pain occurs in the arm socket area when I push my wrists on down to the floor.
Did okay on this one. Some feeling of tightness because of double mastectomy.
My back was flat, however, I could not get my arms in the position.
Got this one – no problems.
I got this one – no problems.
Hi!
Whwn my back was on the floor, my left wrist was 2 inches off the floor. My right wrist was ok 🙂
Did this without a problem.
my wrist wouldnt touch the ground in my left and slight in my right. Then if i forced it to touch the ground there's a tightness in the upper chest muscle and connecting muscles in my arms up to the elbows. so what do i do sir to improve myself?
Ribs could touch the matt, but wrists were 8-10 inches off the floor
ribs on the floor ok, but both wrists 8" off the floor. I have rotator cuff issues in both shoulders. 66 yrs old
Left wrist 2 inches off the floor, right almost on the floor
I was able to perform the floor angel test. My lower ribs touched the floor. My arms and hands went back easily with the knuckles of both hands resting on the floor.
My wrists had about one-half an inch of space between the wrist and the floor. Not sure if this is muscle tension in the forearm and hand or somewhere else.
I can keep my ribs on the floor with goal post arms … when I lie on a roller and do foam angel, the left arm has to lift off slightly to keep my ribs down (I have an implant under the left breast – mastectomy). When both arms are totally overhead, the left arm is at least 1-1.5" shorter than the right … but the left arm is on the ground and the ribs are down. … FYI – I have tightness from my left base of skull to the bottom of the left scapula AND the left rib has been known to move out of place.
Hi there.
I was very interest in the self test as I have had a chronic problem with my upper back and no one I've been to seemed to know what to do to eleviate the constant pain or why it wasn't being rectified by what they were doing to help me. Suffice it to say I've been to many professionals and have gradually lost faith……
Then a cousin who is studying massage mentioned upper cross syndrome and said it was extremely common. Leading me to find Dr. Steve who made SO much sense.
So here's my findings… I can touch my wrists to the floor behind me but there is no way of keeping my ribs grounded to the floor. Also, I have a very painfull muscle in the front of both arms from shoulder to wrist, sometimes further. With this excersise it effects the right arm.
I would be so very grateful for any feedback as I'm a bit lost as to who to turn to next. I suffer with lower back problem too.
Your friend,
Eimer.
Sounds like you’ve been disconnected from your core or you have lots of blockage in your upper thoracic spine. The fundamentals exercise series will address a lot of this and be on the lookout for when I re-open the coaching program for more individual help.
Thank you for your feed back. I will definitely stay in touch
No problem here. Managed test easily.
Did this without a problem.
With the straight arm foam angel – I got to 20 degrees before my left arm/wrist lifted off the floor – when the hand came together the right arm was 1 " longer than the other. With goal post arms, I get within inches of the other hand before I would need to lift off. I happen to have an implant under my left chest wall …
Correction … when I do Goal Post on the floor … my left wrist wants to come up … but with concentration … I am able to keep the wrists and ribs on the floor throughout the process. It's on the roller where the discrepency shows up …
So far so good. Can do it when intentionally thinking to touch back to floor. Naturally is slight curve.
Was mostlygood could have gone lower than floor level… just a little tightness on left shoulder tho'
even though I do have Scolliosis
Upper Body Self Test: Right side was able to touch the floor with wrist as instructed in video. Left side wrist was about 5 inches off the floor. Had bc surgery (partial mastectomy) on the left side 3 years ago so I'm sure there is some scar tissue. Also spent many years at desk and computer contributing to the problem. Retired now and need to get in shape.
Was able to lie with arms and ribs touching floor with ease!
Fine with this – no problems.
Middle of back on the floor…neck was not straight and trying to straighten it back raised up a bit and felt very stiff.
My right wrist lays flat, but my left wrist is way up in the air, with severe pain in my left shoulder. Which, or course, is why I am here. My shoulder has been really bothering me since January, but has gotten much worse in just the past couple of weeks.
No problem
Hands are approx 10in off the floor. Lots of tightness in my chest.
if I force my hands towards the floor, my back arches and my legs lift(tight hip flexors).
What a mess!!!

Did much better than I thought. But left wrist, which is the side Parkinson's disease has affected, is about one inch off the floor.
