More Hip Hinge Tips To Protect Your Spine Plus…How To Correct Forward Head Posture

Dr. Steve reveals the powerful secret of "Organic Posture"[Video Below]

Since there's been such a positive response to my recent episodes on how to protect your spine with hip hinging and hip mobility in general, I put this this episode together to take it to another level and help you reverse the "old looking" and damaging "Forward Head Posture".

This combination move is a "must do" for you if you want to stay upright and pain free so you continue to do the things you love to do!

You'll be using the ultra ninja trick that I call the "Push Away Phenomenon" of "Organic Posture".

This special method bypasses all of your brain's faulty wiring and corrupted movement programs and "taps in" to your brain's perfect posture program that you developed from the time you were born to the time you were 6 years old.

Think about it.  You don't see many 4 to 6 year olds with bad posture, do you?

So go ahead and use the "push away phenomenon" I talk about in this video to re-awaken your confident, youthful, "organic" posture!  Your back, your hips, your neck, your shoulders, and even your knees will thank you!

  1. That is fantastic’s. When i was young I was a believer in asian core-hara- stuff, and at some point i lost it. i lost my belief in doctors talking about sport and being non practicant or sportsmen with no academic background. The best is MD sports enthusiast’s practicants explorers, to backup asian traditions in western ways pragmatics
    Kind Regards

    • It does get lost as “life” gets in the way. The goal is to allow your life to be lived FROM your Hara. Hara means ‘sea of energy’ and this is exactly what it is. But our ego mind and stress draws us into an “uptight” position and the Hara is lost, as you say. Find it again, my friend. Thanks for the comment.

  2. Wow! This is great. How grounded it makes me feel. I think this is very valuable information. I always wondered about the word Dantian and how to access it. The pushing away appears to awaken something in the lower abdomen and I plan on exploring this further. Thank you for the reminder to continue pushing away from support points because it is so easy to forget. It is a very powerful sensation! Sue.

    • Magic word…GROUNDED. Accessing it is all about the intention of peace, growth, and expansion. We all need reminders to keep our Intention on these feelings. BUT…in my opinion, this is the purpose of being here…exploring and feeling peace by letting go of stressful thoughts, feelings, and emotions that keep us in the “uptight” posture position.

From Wikipedia: Dantian usually refers to the physical center of gravity located in the abdomen. Taoist and Buddhist teachers often instruct their students to center their mind in the dantian. This is believed to aid control of thoughts and emotions. Acting from the dantian is considered to be related to the state of samadhi. Upon development of samādhi, one’s mind becomes purified of defilements, calm, tranquil, and luminous. Once the meditator achieves a strong and powerful concentration, his mind is ready to penetrate and see into the ultimate nature of reality, eventually obtaining release from all suffering.

  3. Dr. Hoffman, It is great that you provide all these tips and exercises. I am sure everybody appreciate this.  If you get a chance please give us some upper back exercises.  I get upper back pain/burning under the shoulder when for example I am cooking or washing dishes or I guess when my head is down.  Thanks, Shawn

    • Shawn, glad your liking the content. Good fodder for an upcoming episode. I will be starting a coaching program early in 2012 to help people out with individual problems through Q&A videos so be on the lookout for that.

  4. Hey Dr. Steve,
I have some incontinence as a women of 58 years young.
Do you have some method of exercise that would help?
    Thanks you!
    Kim

    • Kim, multifaceted answer. Kegel exercises are #1 and often overlooked. That’s first. Sometimes the deep stability system is inhibited and could be re-awakened by doing baby belly and baby back in the fundamentals exercise series in the free reverse cps now video series on this site. Look for my coaching program to open in 2012 for more individualized help.

      Thanks for the comment!

  5. Hey Steve. I’m starting to feel how important it is to “get through the hips” when lunging, hinging, or squatting. In the push away lunge, it seems like the back leg hip needs to come forward to the front of the capsule, and when hinging the hips need to drop back. It helps me to visualize the torso being slung between my two legs rather that sitting on top.

I’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions on “getting through to hips.” Thanks a lot as always, your wisdom is appreciated.

    Andrew
