Walking on ice is crazy dangerous if you don’t have good core stability and good reaction time.
In this episode, even if there’s no ice where you are, you get some excellent tips on how to reawaken your balance and prevent broken arms and hips from needless falls!
How would you go about activating those lower extremity stabilizers for someone who has a neuropathy and does not get that sensory feedback from the feet?
Work on 1 leg barefoot balance as much as possible and use unstable surface tools like a wobble board, rocker board, foam pad stability trainers, Bosu boards, etc. The nervous system will adapt and optimize functional stability if you train it.
Finally got to view this video. Very informative. I’m going to practice when I get home. Thanks Steve!
My pleasure, Sarah!
